january
Things aren't looking good for the Barrayaran resistance lately. About a month ago, the location of their guerrilla camp in the Dendarii mountains was discovered by the Cetagandans, forcing General Vorkosigan's army to split and fall back to other locations scattered across the mountains. The new guerrilla camp is within about half a day's hiking distance to the hill village of Riverfall, which is regularly visited by Cetagandan troops as part of the occupation.

General Vorkosigan has yet to make contact with the other branches of his guerrilla army, and ghem-General Zahal, frustrated that the leader of the Barrayaran resistance has once again slipped through his fingers, is determined to smoke them out of hiding once more.

weather
High precipitation/low temperature: It's an overall cold month, with highs around -7°C/20°F during the day and temperatures reaching as low as -22°C/-8°F at night in the mountains; at sea level, highs average -4°C/25°F with lows averaging at -12°C/10°F. Mild flurries will occur every few days in the first half of the month, but the second half of the month will see snowstorms with heavier snowfall up to around 45cm/18in in the mountains and around 35cm/14in sea level.

barrayar
resources
Food: Adequate: The Barrayarans haven't been able to make a supply run to the nearest village since they had to move camp, but their remaining food stores will do...for now.
Water: Adequate: There's a creek near the edge of their new camp, but it freezes over when the temperature drops too low. They haven't yet been able to set up a reserve water supply safe from freezing temperatures.
Weapons/Equipment: Adequate: Luckily, they were able to preserve most of their equipment in the move. Stock wasn't high to begin with, but they have enough for now.
Medical Supplies: Low: The Barrayarans haven't received a supply drop in some time, and supplies are getting low. Little is left in the way of actual medicine, and they've been tearing up old clothes for bandages.
Facilities/Manpower: Low: Their tents suffered the most in the sudden move. Many of them have tears or are otherwise in need of repair, although they were able to move almost all of the horses, leaving them with about 40. Piotr's current camp only has about 150 soldiers after the split.

status
Since the split of the guerrilla forces, General Vorkosigan and his men have spent the last month largely regrouping and trying to recoup their supply losses. They've recently established contact with the Riverfall village speaker to request their aid and alliance.

intelligence
The Barrayarans have yet to uncover any intelligence as to how their previous location was discovered. General Vorkosigan, however, has some suspicions. In order to strike back at the Cetagandans and make it count, they'll need much more intelligence than they have.
cetaganda
resources
Food: Sustainable: Although the harvest is lean in the winter, the Cetagandans' grow labs are providing enough fresh food to complement their military rations.
Water: Sustainable: The freezing temperatures aren't interfering heavily with the base's water treatment.
Weapons/Equipment: Abundant: The Cetagandans are well-stocked on weaponry and equipment and don't foresee any shortages based on current activity. The base's generator keeps all power packs recharged.
Medical Supplies: Sustainable: They have sufficient medical supplies for the time being, particularly since there hasn't been much combat action lately.
Facilities/Manpower: Abundant: The base fortifications are in good condition, their patrols solid, and they have a fully staffed base with about 10,000 ghem troops and 150 ghem-lady scientists.

status
Not only is the Cetagandan base well-secured by now, the recent scattering and temporary displacement of the resistance has allowed them to secure a wider perimeter, including making regular rounds to local villages in order to sniff out the resistance. This has also allowed them to strengthen their occupying force in the district's capital, Vorkosigan Vashnoi.

intelligence
The source of intel that led the Cetagandans to the Barrayarans' last location is under tight wraps. There are reports of uprisings in the locally occupied cities, but they have been sufficiently suppressed.
