Ah? That determination - born, it sounds, of personal experience - is good to hear. He wonders if it's trustworthy, though. What prompted her to make that oath to herself? And how likely is she to maintain it? That's the thing about rigid oaths, after all - you never know exactly what they're made of. They might be hard iron, or they might be brittle glass. And while that ferocity is nice enough to see, sometimes ferocity grows out of vulnerability, not self-assurance.

"I don't know; that much is true." He spreads his hands, then, and asks, "You've met Miles Illyan, I assume? The smart-mouthed Barrayaran? Yea high?" He demonstrates Miles' diminutive height. "How much have you learned from him?"
