In fact, Miles is careful not to approach Piotr at all during the intervening days. He's no less present in camp - seemingly always at a task somewhere in camp, and always in the stable when there's mucking to do - before the mission details come down to him. And then ... well. It doesn't go that badly. Miles has absolutely had worse missions, oh yes. Whether his grandfather is impressed is a different matter entirely.

He reports back to Piotr at the first available moment. Cleaned up from his scuffle with Duv, though the chill of having been out in the elements still nags at his artificial bones. But Piotr wanted a debriefing, so Piotr will get a debriefing. And Miles has another very important reason to report back as soon as Piotr permits him to do so ...
