A breath of relief rushes out of Sonia. Byerly must be a man of his word, regardless of what others think of him, he is to her. He had better be, anyway. That teasing remark does get a tilted smile out of her.

"If I really were a Jacksonian Baronne, I'd have made you work harder for that lump of sugar -- and then hit you with a surcharge," Sonia tells him, one eyebrow arched, and then she pauses for a beat. She's struck with an odd case of nerves, perhaps only because she keeps building it up in her mind to be some grand thing, to openly give her name and secret -- not entirely akin to giving one's virginity, because you really can't give that more than once. Well, that's not entirely true. Any sufficiently drunk or otherwise dull man can be convinced he's sleeping with a virgin.

Sonia just smiles, head tilting. "Come closer."
