Is that what he's doing? Throwing himself off every cliff knowing that he has nothing else to lose at this point? The extreme strangeness of the situation has temporarily spared Miles from having to resolve his incipient identity crisis, but it hasn't actually gone anywhere. Only pushed down below the surface level of his consciousness, to bubble up in new and unexpected ways. What else can he say? What else can he do? As Vorkosigan or Naismith, he had honor to trade on; here, he has nothing.

"I've no coin to gamble with except my life," he says with a trace of bitterness. He shouldn't let even that slip through, but if he doesn't he'll feel sorry for himself instead. "The goal is to win, not die."
