It shouldn't be a surprise, though -- if Wash searches out York he's just as likely to find Ratchet, the two of them sitting together at meals and hitting the training room at the same time, and York is in Ratchet's bed more often than his own. He thinks back to their first meeting, to how the doctor cared so much for a total stranger. How something about his manner made York open up, and when he'd seen that York needed to be looked after he'd just done it, no questions asked, nothing wanted in return.
