Having someone's gem but not being that person is a tough concept to get one's head around, honestly. Even changed like this, Jasper still has her gem – although she's not so dense she hasn't noticed how different it feels; how wrong. Is that how it would feel to be half human..?
But Rose fought her with a gem's abilities. Whatever's going on there, it's not this.
Of course, she also didn't fight like Jasper always imagined Rose Quartz would. Wasn't big, imposing. Fused with... with a human, which ought to have been impossible.
Jasper looks away, shoulders stiff.
"I guess it doesn't matter any more anyway," she mutters. Rose Quartz or not, Jasper lost, failed for a second time.
There's no reason for anyone to give her another chance, after that.
She grits her teeth. "Fine."
It's not exactly easy to say – but it's easier than it could be, when there's no sign of any Rose Quartz here; when she's already resigned herself to giving up on achieving that purpose.
