[That recognition of her name actually takes her by surprise, catches her breath and there's a brief blink of blue eyes through the glass wall. To most Americans it was just another surname. But, of course, in Lakshmi's lifetime the Romanovs had been a dynasty, not a fallen line of forgotten Russian emperors. They'd been a world power in her lifetime.]

Depends on if you believe in fairy tales. Twenty years before I was born the Bolshevik seized power and tried to wipe out the Romanov family line. They believed they succeeded.

[And usually, that's the story that Natasha sticks to. She's never had any interest in the politics of it, the tales of gold and riches and forgotten treasures. Usually, when people question her last name they're trying to use it against her, but she doesn't get that feeling from her. Lakshmi's a queen in her own right, why would she?]
