"Alright, so not all fusions are born of trust," Pearl concedes with a nod towards Lapis, without missing a beat. "But you do need to be in sync, at least to an extent. Otherwise the fusion will just fall apart! And... Yes," she says, directing at Diya now. "I guess you could say it's sort of like art, in a way. A good, healthy fusion between two gems of different types is supposed to create something exciting and new, something greater than just the sum of its parts."

She pauses there, sighing. "Fusion talk always just makes me think of Garnet. I hope she's well, wherever she is..."
