Beth's method of keeping busy when she's sick of chores and can't justify taking a horse out as "practice" is simple and, frankly, boring: she wanders around and calls it taking a walk. It's not like there's anything else to do. Everything that kept her busy at the prison--playing with Judith, reading, decorating her cell--is impossible here, and nothing that happened at the hospital is worth revisiting.
