Piotr is still, on principle, deeply unhappy with Miles. He'd nearly shot down Miles and Byerly's little spy plot entirely when the two of them couldn't seem to decide what the fuck they were doing, and Miles had gotten one of Piotr's officers killed over the stupidest thing imaginable. And now this -- a wholly unauthorized mission that could have compromised damn near everything. So no, he's not exactly in Piotr's good book right now. And Maine...Piotr likes Maine, but his participation in this little unauthorized mission doesn't earn him any extra points, either.
That doesn't mean he isn't glad as hell to see Rani back. A look of relief passes quite visibly over his face, tired as it is -- he's not really an...affectionate man, but he does like Rani a great deal, as does his wife, and that's damn near good enough for him besides. Piotr shakes his head and holds a hand up.
"You needn't apologize, Rani. The Cetagandans are known to be rather overbearing." His voice is dry, and he doesn't quite smile, but he does drag a pitcher of miraculously unfrozen water from the end of the table and pours into his cup, pushing it across the table toward her. "Drink. You look like you need it."
She looks like a lot of things, but Piotr doesn't give voice to them. He glances around the rest of her little entourage -- his gaze lingers slightly on Miles for an uncomfortable moment, a silent you and I are going to have a chat later -- but he takes stock of Daryl and Wash with piercing scrutiny.
"I take it you assisted Rani in her escape." He'll let them fill in the rest. He hasn't decided whether or not he'll trust them yet.
