Arranged marriages are never going to make sense to Beth, but she's started to become acquainted with the way they're accepted here. At the least, she's learned that they're still decidedly a thing to people in camp, despite how backwards they seem to her. They'll have to suffer, dateless, together.

"Sometimes, it doesn't matter if you're what everyone thinks is good," she offers, hoping it doesn't sound condescending. "People with weird voices make the best music."
