That tentative hope spreads to Sonia's face, her expression softening slightly. The usual details that people want of the future -- when you die, who you marry, what happens to everyone in the end -- they don't appeal to Sonia at all. She doesn't think she could bear living with knowledge of those things. But to know that there will be a place for her one day, that Byerly was right in his own way, that's all the comfort she needs.
