"I can't do anything about what's going on back home," Ratchet says as he eyes the look on Whirl's shockingly expressive face. "I can do something about what's going on here. C'mere." He nudges Whirl over to his bunk to sit, plops down next to him, and holds out a hand.

"No, we can't just replace them here. But I'll see what I can do."
