“Thank you, ma’am.” The man was tall and powerfully built but there wasn’t any hint of aggression in his body language even if there were subtle signs about him that practically screamed military. Even exhausted and completely drained, his posture was straight and each movement was carefully measured so as not to expend any needless energy.

It was perhaps a testament to how out of sorts he was that Kurt didn’t even react to the ears and the other-worldly appearance of the woman. But then, compared to what he’d seen in the past few hours, she was perhaps one of the least unusual things. He’d found himself absconded somewhere far from his home and his team with little in the way of concrete answers.

He felt like he’d gone three rounds with a Brute Chieftain which wasn’t too far from the truth. How he wasn’t dead right now was beyond Kurt because he’d known his wounds to be mortal and had kept pushing on. Yet here he was, seemingly whole yet not whole.

“From what I gathered, I don’t think they quite know what to do with us.” He didn’t mind a mixed-gender barrack, this felt almost like home to him. Kurt sat down on the bunk and sorted through the meager belongings he now had. His SPI armor was missing and he had no idea where considering he’d woken up in one of his regular duty uniforms instead.
