He was apologizing. Carolina stares at him blankly as it sinks in because one of them needs to apologize and it certainly isn't him.

"You shouldn't be. I told you back then; You couldn't trust me," She says before another cough wracks her body. It's worse than her last coughing fit leaving her with watering eyes and a raw throat. But she starts talking again in spite of that pain because she needs to say it. She knows one of the medics will chase her off soon after that if they noticed and doesn't want to leave it unsaid.

"The Director had me so twisted up I didn't trust anyone... he made sure of it and by the time I realized..." She squeezes his hand in hers, unable to finish the sentence. By the time she realized it was too late.

"I'm the one who should be apologizing, not you."
