Sonia's eyes go lidded as she gazes at him, pressing her lips together. She follows his gaze, but for all she knows he's just gazing into the middle distance. Sonia shifts on the tree branch and hooks one leg on a higher branch.

"But you want to talk to me," Sonia concludes as though this were fact, tilting her head as she goes back to taking pictures. There are, admittedly, a few small pieces of leaf and twig caught in her hair, a petal or two. "Or else you wouldn't insist on just standing here. You'd be miserable just standing here in silence. You're already making yourself miserable, I can see it. If you didn't want to talk to me at all, you'd have walked away by now."
