Amai's positive interest in Sonia is more akin to a child with a magnifying glass and a butterfly, with a few pins stuck in for good measure. Her interest in Byerly, while having nothing to do with his genes -- which are unremarkable as far as she's concerned, aside from his perfectly acceptable handsomeness -- is far more benign. She tilts her head in consideration, eyes slitted and thoughtful.
"Hm. It can be difficult with the naked eye alone, if the selection, or lack thereof, is subtle enough. After all, all we see on the surface is expression. That expression could come from any number of factors. A genetic sample, on the other hand...that would be quite easy." A sudden light sparks in Amai's eyes. "Which, come to think of it, we do have now. Strictly for record purposes, of course, but it may bear some examination."
She smiles sidelong at Byerly. A part of her very much would like to prove that the Princess was, in fact, the product of finer genetic selection. "Would you perhaps be interested in joining me in the lab sometime? Photography needn't be the only thing we appraise together."
