"Late hours in the lab," Micah admits ruefully, shrugging one shoulder. Byerly...confuses them, like a scrambler to a radio transmission, but they do not, at least, feel particularly threatened by him. "I thought I'd better call it a day when I started seeing double."
Micah's been on Barrayar long enough to be familiar with their sort of endearing approach to drinking, although their brow does knit slightly just because of the label. But when on Barrayar, right? And they're hardly going to turn down Vorkosigan wine.
"A shame we can't let it breathe properly," Micah sighs, but their eyes are still bright with interest, a smile on their lips as they set their coffee aside to be quickly forgotten, replaced with the bottle. They pause to close their eyes and inhale the rich aroma first, an entirely different sigh escaping them. Congratulations, Byerly, you have correctly identified Micah's weakness. They haven't had a really, really good drink in...a really, really long time.
Their own drink from the bottle is a hair more delicate than Byerly's, but they still wipe the mouth of the bottle on their sleeve and hand it back to Byerly, a look of deep delight spreading over their face. "Oh, wow," they breathe as the flavors play out, that robust finish. Not very articulate, but they've exhausted most of their grace for the day. They give Byerly a tilt of their head, raising their eyebrows. "You aren't going to tell me where you got hold of that, are you?"
