Yeah, that's Tarn. [There's an easy affirmation to his description of the person that had taken Sonia, especially when he calls them vicious.] I know. I may have- I had a few words with Tarn when York and Ratchet left. If he hurts anyone, I'm going to make him suffer for it. The only reason I haven't made a point about him hurting Sonia and the Barrayarans is that since it was endorsed by the Cetagandans it would make my sympathies rather clear, and he seems about the last person I'd want to give that information to.
[She sighs, her lips thinning slightly. She does not like Tarn, and he doesn't seem to like her, and that was before what had gone down in Riverfall. Much like Wash, she would not be against killing him if there was a clean way to do it.]
I'll keep you updated. [She skips the Sonia issue, lets that gloss over, lay where it is. He's right, to an extent, but he can probably already tell that she wont. She brushes a few strands of hair back from her face, a thin press of her lips. Her feelings on Byerly have gotten complicated, so really the less said on that point the better, from her perspective. She's never been very good at talking about how she feels about people.] Noted, though I'm not too bad at talking to him when I want to.
[You'd think talking about the gene therapy project would be easier, but there's an expression on her face that while not exactly guilty certainly holds traces of I might have fucked up--]
It just started, and I volunteered. I think.. it might be at least partially my fault. I'm pretty sure they're using us as test subjects to the end result that they're hoping they can adapt our abilities for themselves.
