Sonia does blanch at that, because she is squeamish where her sister and brother-in-law are not. She was aware of the operation, it wasn't the first like it that Piotr had run, even if she hadn't known the details.

"The flu?" Appalment aside, Sonia does look genuinely confused for a moment. "You think that was -- oh, God, we didn't even know about it until afterwards. Nobody was meant to get sick, it was just -- it was just scare tactics."

Not that it makes it any less horrifying. Sonia can't argue with that. But she's also not in charge of this war, not anything. She doesn't have the stomach for it. She can't make those judgment calls, she just...wants her home back.
