The only other thing Micah can be sure about Byerly, other than that he's confusing, is that he is entertaining. And, much though they believe in the cause, in Xav's cause if nothing else, they have had very little in the way of entertainment since arriving on Barrayar. Their eyes fall on his hand, the finger slipping underneath the label, and they smile a little -- less tiredly, this time. When he doesn't take the bottle back, Micah generously takes that as another invitation to drink.

That look prickles at the back of Micah's neck, a touch of cool shiver in contrast to the warmth of the wine. He must have practiced that look, they think distantly, to have it down so good.

"I am very much impressed," Micah concurs, the corner of their mouth turning up a little more as they regard Byerly with a tilt of their head. Their eyes brighten slightly with a wry kind of amusement. "It is a truly beautiful planet. I'd very much like to see the coast sometime. I think Beta Colony could probably give Barrayar a run for its money in the sensual pleasures department, but..." They tilt their head in the other direction, as though weighing their thoughts, and they breathe out a laugh. "It's been all work for me. I have no real basis for comparison."
