im sorry this was so slow

[ Wash looks over to him, shaking his head slightly -- there's a smile there, a little sad but genuine, nudging him lightly on the shoulder. ]

Your instincts are a lot better than you know, Tucker.

[ Not trusting him was the right move to make. The Reds and Blues took an enormous risk, trusting him like that, taking him in after everything they did. Tucker's caution was not only understandable but it was the right fucking thing to do. Wash appreciates the faith they've all put into him, Tucker most of all, but. They should have doubted him. They should have doubted him more. ]

If anything, I think you guys trusted him all the more because you saw that I did, even if I wasn't there for most of it. He saved my life, after all, didn't he?

[ That fucking sniper shot. He should've known from the start. ]

But look, Tucker. I know you're angry he tricked you -- no. I know you're angry that you let him trick you. [ Still with the knife in his hand. Another spin. ] But that's not how this works. He's was a liar, a con-artist, a clever one. He knew what he was doing. How long did he have Kimball under his thumb? How long did he have an entire planet buying his lies?

The only way to safeguard against that is to not trust anyone at all.

[ Which is the route Wash's taken, of course. And let him tell you, Tucker, it's a terrible way to live. ]
