As much as his own view on children can be a bit softened by his paternal biases, he certainly knows better than to think any of them necessarily innocent by default. He's seen the ways that people can live, known too much conflict and desperation, and he always makes it a point both to be aware of currently, and to learn and always remember from his own history, the things that people will do when in certain environments. Children, of course, are by no means immune.
He's happy to go with Lakshmi, having quickly developed a respect based on the knowledge that she's displayed of the situation that they're in - the people, their stances and motivations - and her determination to see this through, any (well-deserved) feelings about the deceased, or Piotr's instructions, aside. He doesn't have any personal reason against Piotr to disregard the request but, like her, he does have a certain level of investment, and he's willing to accept some risk to ensure the investigation is pursued.
So he goes, and he stands patiently to her side as she beckons to Negri, schooling his face into an expression that's even, calm, and - beyond that - likely difficult to read.
