Micah lets out a sort of amused noise of affirmation at that as they take another bite of their sandwich, propping their chin on a hand. "It certainly would have been handled differently," they concede with a wry, almost shy smile. Their brow crinkles slightly at his question, though. They'd like the answer to be a clear-cut yes, but things never are that simple.
"My people?" They scrunch their nose slightly, pursing their lips, and pause to gulp down some water before continuing, a little hesitantly. "They'd...consider it. You're a small enough group that they might even grant it on a temporary status. But they'd look for some alternative in the long-term. Beta Colony isn't really equipped for supporting a refugee population. Not that you constitute a population, mind..."
They pause again to scarf down the rest of their sandwich, frowning in thought. Not that they've ever considered their hypotheses infallible, but they've been so singlemindedly fixated on getting the Star Gate working that they haven't let themself think much about the alternatives.
"The surface of my home planet regularly reaches temperatures of over 60 degrees Celsius. Very little water to speak of. We all live underground in climate-controlled domes -- population-controlled too. It's a matter of resources." They look at Kaidan apologetically, shrugging. "I think your odds would be good, for what it's worth. And I think you'd like Beta. Assuming I could ever get you there..."
